Fuck Yeah! Feminism

Hey everybody - so it came to my attention today that a Slut Walk has been organized for our very own Waterloo (for those of you following who are from the area, this is something you should check out!).  Check out this site: http://www.slutwalktoronto.com/satellite to get the details and to check out the Facebook event/group for more info.

I strongly encourage EVERYONE to go out and try and make a difference.  It’s appalling how many rape cases are overturned because the woman (or man!) was apparently “asking for it” or put “sex in the air” (okay, SERIOUSLY? what does that even MEAN?!) or were dressed like a “slut”.  THIS IS NOT OKAY, EVER. 

It doesn’t matter what you wear, how you do your hair (nice rhyme, huh? ;) ), or anything else about you - you never ask to be raped and you never deserve it.  Even if you’re not sure the word “slut” can be reclaimed (I know some feminists are on the fence about this, so if you want some more info/want to know what other feminists are saying about it check out TVO’s video on iTunes by searching slut walk.  There is also a CBC podcast that was done today, but I am having trouble locating it… once I’ve found it, I’ll post it!) it is still important to fight against this incredibly oppressive discourse of rape victims asking/deserving to be raped.
